“When the Mongol Rally cars get to Ulaanbaatar they are sold at auction to raise more money for charity and this year the total so far is chuffing huge! A handful of cars are yet to be sold so this number will soon go up, but the current total is over 98 million Mongolian tughrik!

Current total in the Queen's pound sterling: £41,392.87

So what happens to this big ol' pot of dosh? This money won't go to the official rally charities. The teams raise a minimum of £1000 that goes to the official rally charities and there'll be an update on that seriously impressive total very soon.

All this cash raised from the sale of the cars will be donated to other projects inside Mongolia. With the help of Mercy Corps Mongolia and the government, NGOs and charities who have projects in Mongolia will be invited to apply for funding and full reports will be available on the rally website. The invitation to apply for this funding will focus on a particular area of development or current need and full details will be available soon.”

And the ‘Rabbit Chaser’…

We were gutted to leave our mighty steed…however the Chaser was sold for 810,000 Mongolian tughrik (£335 sterling, or $685)
